- Course objectives
- The main objectives are as follows: Understanding basic problems in medical psychology Main psychological terminology. Understanding and learning social and mental hygiene. Active learning of autogenic training as mental hygiene. Active learning of crisis intervention. Active learning of psychological help to patient before, during and after difficult treatment. Psychological interference of pain. Bio-psycho-social model of disease. Improvement of quality of life of chronically or seriously ill patients.

- Medical psychology – main terms Health and illness. Psychological needs of patients – personality, ego defence mechanisms, motivation, needs. Doctor-patient relationship and communication, compliance. Doctor-patient dialogue. Breaking bad news to patients and their relatives. Basic psychological care of out -patient clinic and hospitalized patients. Psychosomatic approach and biopsychosocial approach to health and disease Pain, fear, anxiety. Depression, aggression. Thanatology. Mental crisis, crisis intervention, specific psychological approach in oncology, gynecology and obstetrics, neonatology, psychiatry, surgery, internal medicine… Mental hygiene of health care provider , autogenic training, burn out syndrome

- Teaching methods
- Type of teaching - lecture.
- Assessment methods
- Requirements for the finishing of practice, form of finishing: credit - 80 per cent participation on the teaching. Requirements for finishing the lecture, form of the finishing colloquium. Students will be informed about the requirements for getting the colloquium in written form, a seminar paper on a certain topic will be set (5 given topics and 1 topic of one's own) according to the requirements given. The content of the paper may be personal reflections and experiences supported by citation and examples from literature. A clear grasp of the topic, expression of an opinion of one's own, and ability to be work with sources (literature) will be evaluated. Content and professional quality of the topic will be evaluated by the teacher who will decide whether the seminar paper fulfills the requirements and exhausts the given topic. Colloquium has a form of a written test, the result of the test is evaluated in points, within the range from 0 to 25 points, minimum number of points for passing is 20 Total evaluation of the student in the subject is combined from the evaluation of the seminar paper (45%) and the perfomance at the colloquium (65%).
