- Course objectives
- The aim of histology course is obtaining foudantions of microscopic identification of human tissues in histological slides. At the end of this course, students should be able to understand principles of tissue processing for the light microscopy and to describe the structure and ultrastructure of the animal cells as well as key microscopic characteristics of various tissue types. Simultaneously they should be able correctly to use a light microscope and to interpret microscopic entities and findings.
- Syllabus
- Introduction to practical microscopy. Tissue processing and preparation of histological slides. Animal cells in the light microscope.
- Animal cells in the electron microscope. Ultrastructure of the cell nucleus, cell organelles, and inclusions. The cell membrane and its specializations.
- Correct use of a light microscope. Morphology of blood corpuscles and white blood cell count.
- Connective and supporting tissues I - connective tissue proper and special connective tissues. Cartilage.
- Connective and supporting tissues I - structure and development of the bone tissue.
- Muscle tissue.
- Nerve tissue
