- General Medicine (eng.) (programme LF, M-VL)
- General Medicine (programme LF, M-VL) (2)
- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Define female genital organs, organs of the cardiovascular system, senses, and organs of peripheral and central nervous systems
2. Identify particular anatomical features of the female genital organs, cardiovascular system, eye, ear, central and peripheral nervous systems (i.e. brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves) including their blood supply
3. Characterize function of female genital organs, organs of cardiovascular system, senses, peripheral and central nervous systems
4. Discuss the distribution and function of the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems
5. Relate studied organs with respect to adjacent structures - Learning outcomes
- Students should be able to describe cardiovascular organs, organs of senses, peripheral and central nervous systems and explain their function. Then define topographical regions of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, and pelvis.
- Syllabus
- 1. Female genital system, female pelvic floor, description of X-ray pictures
- 2. Heart, aorta ascendens, arcus aortae. A. carotis communis, externa
- 3. Descending aorta, main arteries and veins. V. portae, portal-systemic anastomses. Fetal circulation.
- 4. Gross anatomy of the CNS (spinal cord, brain stem). Attachments of cranial nerves to the brain stem. Cranial nerves nuclei
- 5. Cranial nerves (III-VII, IX-XII), course. Skull base
- 6. Cranial nerve V. Gross anatomy of the cerebellum and diencephalon
- 7. Telencephalon (anatomy; grey matter – cortex + basal ganglia; white matter – pathways)
- 8. Blood supply of the CNS, meninges, cerebral ventricles, cerebrospinal fluid
- 9. Auditory and vestibular system. Temporal bone
- 10. Visual system and orbital region
- 11. Imaging techniques, reading of anatomical structures
- 12. Preparation for dissections. Regions of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen and pelvis.
- 13. + 14. Dissections (head, neck, thorax, abdomen and pelvis)
