- Course objectives
- The course aims at introducing students to modern methods of clinical hypnosis and developing basic hypnotic techniques. Due to the practical focus of the course, the lectures will be combined with a number of communication exercises and video-presentations of hypnosis. Exercising hypnotic techniques also means training observation skills, communication skills, and cooperative (as opposed to authoritative) approach towards a patient – therefore the training of hypnosis will have a broader outlook into medical practice. On the theoretical level, the aim of the course is to present contemporary neurobiological and psychological theories of hypnosis, as well as to present empirical studies that demonstrate the effect of hypnosis especially on the treatment of pain.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the student will be able to facilitate hypnotic trance in order to induce relaxation and will be aware of the use of hypnosis in medical practice.
