- Course objectives
- Professional Nursing Practice I is a practical subject that integrates knowledge from the theory and practice of nursing, basic scientific disciplines and natural, social and behavioral sciences. The course takes the form of direct and indirect patient care, in accordance with the applicable legislation, and enables students to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired by studying theoretical-practical disciplines in the conditions of a health service provider. The objectives of the course are identified at the level of cognitive, psychomotor and attitude: knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention; acquiring and consolidating nursing activities by implementing the nursing process in terms of medical practice; realization of individualized nursing care based on knowledge of biopsychosocial and spiritual needs of patients; acquiring and consolidating professional skills and habits; acquiring work organization, independence and teamwork; formation of professional characteristics of a nurse; consolidation of communicative skills and acquisition of work with nursing and medical documentation. Practice is focused on health promotion and disease prevention, training and acquisition of nursing, diagnostic and therapeutic activities, according to the principles of evidence-based nursing (Evidence Based Nursing). It is implemented in internal care inpatient workplaces, senior care workplaces, geriatric care workplaces and in long-term and follow-up care workplaces. The practice is carried out in the form of block teaching under the guidance of teachers or mentors and is realized in teaching hospitals in Brno or at contractual providers of health services (with a framework contract for the practice of students of the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University). The completed internships, activities, performances and other activities within the nursing practice are recorded in the Nursing Practice Logbook (Logbook).
