DESCRIPTION OF TEACHING
The course is organized into the following segments:

1. THEORETICAL SEMINARS

They are a theoretical presentation on psychiatric topics. Along with literature study and lectures, it should offer students the theoretical background needed for case studies. Seminars take place in the auditorium of the Psychiatric Clinic.

2. PATIENT SAMPLE AND DISCUSSION OF SPECIFIC PATIENT CASES

This segment includes either instructor-led patient interviews, videos, or interactive case studies. It is the first step towards the application of theoretical knowledge about differential diagnosis and case management in psychiatry. An active approach of students and sufficient theoretical knowledge of the topic is assumed. Demonstrations take place in the hall of the Psychiatric Clinic.

3. PRACTICAL EXERCISES

This part is more focused on practice. The exact content of each hour depends on the current situation in specific departments of the department. May include a ward visit, a demonstration of electroconvulsive therapy or bright light therapy, interviews with the patient

EDUCATIONAL ORGANIZATION

The duration of this course is two weeks. The lesson starts at 8 a.m. in the hall of the Psychiatric Clinic of the Brno-Bohunice University of Applied Sciences, Jihlavská 20, building G, 2nd floor. Every day before classes start, students gather in front of the auditorium and wait for the department secretary to open the auditorium.

Pupils take white coats and slippers with them. They can store their belongings in the back of the auditorium during class.

The exact organization of the day will be communicated to the students during the lesson and will depend on the situation in the departments of the department and on the teacher.

Students are expected to arrive prepared, meaning they will have at least a basic understanding of the day's topic. It is possible that unprepared students will not allow presence during class which equates to an absence on the day.

Lessons are canceled during public holidays. Students study the presentation online (learning materials are in IS MUNI).
