Course objectives
After finishing this corse the student, on the base of gained knowledge, will be able to define and explain problems connected with refractive errors including all circumstances. Thanks integrity of these problems the student judges, compares and explains appropriate result and methods of examination process in optometry and ophtalmology. The student will be also able to understand and explain the recommendation of the several types of magnifying devices in patients with permanent functional visual impairment.
Learning outcomes
Afterr finishing this course the student will be able to judge, compares and explains appropriate result and methods of examination process.They will deepen their skills in manipulation and working with ophthalmological devices. At the end of the course students should be also able to understand and explain the usage of the several types of magnifying devices in patients with permanent functional visual impairment. Further more a student will be able to identify and describe basic pathological states, which could appear on eye and its surrounding. The student will be able to define which part of the eye is affected by pathological process and whether the disease influences other organs.
Syllabus
  • Anamnesis. Objective methods of refraction determination. Subjective examination methods for refraction determination. Examination of visual acuity for far and near distances. Examination of heterophoria, vergence determination. Keratometry, corneal topography. Refractive errors correction including appropriate corrective aid selection. Interpretation findings according devices measurement. Diseases of individual eye tissues and structures. Screening examinations of anterior eye. Classification of visually impaired and causes of permanent visual impairment. Selection of magnifying devices and types of magnifying aids. Magnifyers, Hypercorrection. Telescopic systems spectacles Prismatic telescopic spectacle. Turmons, electronic magnifyers. Compensatory aids for visually impired.
