  • MEDICAL ENGLISH. Syllabus.
  • 1st week: Registration for lessons.
  • 2nd week: UNIT 1: Human Body, Body Cavities. Grammar: Definite Article, Indefinite Article, Absence of Articles.
  • 3rd week: UNIT 1: Planes of the Body, Directional Terms; Exercises. Grammar: Basic Verbal Tenses (Simple and Continuous Forms). Conversation: Theme 1: Laboratory.
  • 4th week: UNIT 2: Skeletal System. Grammar: Word Order of the English Sentence, the Construction "there is".
  • 5th week: UNIT 2: Skull, Thorax. Grammar: Plural, much - many, little - few. Conversation: Theme 2: Hospital.
  • 6th week: UNIT 2: Spine, Extremities. Grammar: Modal Verbs, their Periphrastic Forms.
  • 7th week: UNIT 2: Muscular System, Pathological Conditions; Exercises. Grammar: Comparison of Adjectives and Adverbs. Conversation: Theme 3: Operating Theatre.
  • 8th week: UNIT 3: Cardiovascular System, Heart. Grammar: Personal, Interrogative, Demonstrative, and Replacive Pronouns.
  • 9th week: UNIT 3: Circulation of Blood, Pathological Conditions; Exercises. Grammar: Indefinite and Possessive Pronouns. Conversation: Theme 4: Operation.
  • 10th week: UNIT 4: Hematic System. Grammar: Relative Pronouns.
  • 11th week: UNIT 4: Lymphatic System, Pathological Conditions; Exercises. Grammar: Reflexive and Emphasising Pronouns. Conversation: Theme 5: Artificial Respiration.
  • 12th week: UNIT 5: Gastrointestinal System, Mouth Cavity, Pharynx, Esophagus, Stomach. Grammar: Passive Voice.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Výuka probíhá formou cvičení. Přítomnost ve cvičeních se bezpodmínečně vyžaduje, tolerují se maximálně dvě řádně omluvené absence; nejlépe je neúčast nahradit v nejbližším vhodném termínu. Výuka je ukončena zápočtem (z) udělovaným na základě docházky a úspěšného absolvování zápočtového testu z probrané učební látky.

Information on completion of the course: Studenti se státní jazykovou zkouškou, příp. jejím ekvivalentem (TOEFL, FCE apod.) mohou vykonat zkoušku kdykoliv během semestru.
