- Course objectives
- Subject Theory of refraction provides the students with the knowledge needed for perfect orientation in problems of refractive errors of eye and all related surroundings. It is connected with subjects geometrical optics, instrumental optics and spectatle optics. Students practise their knowledge in the examination room and optic laboratory of the faculty and at the departement of eye in hospitals. The aim is throughout knowledge of refractive errors and all the connected factors including the examination of refractive errors and their correction.
- Syllabus
- Anomalies of accomodation - Accomodation: excessive accomodation, spasm, insufficiency, slackness and paralysis of accomodation and cycloplegia - Anomalies of convergence. - Insufficiency, excess of convergence - Muscular balance. Binocular vision. - Ortophoria – characteristics, binocular vision. Heterophoria – etiology, kinds, symptoms and therapy. Heterotrophia – etiology, vision in strabism, kinds and therapy. Amblyopia. - Progression of binocular vision. Stereoscopic vision. - Vision determination, glasses, ophthalmoscopy - Importance of the oculistic examination - Vision determination for near and far distance. - Direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy. Skiascopy.
