- Course objectives
- Anotation of the course Diagnostics and management in orthopaedic surgery The fourth – sixth school year of the general medicine, VSDL071 Type of the course: voluntary The extent of the course: 30 teaching hours in the semestr (two hours weekly). Course main objectives: The course is focused on students interested in orthopaedic surgery. The aim of the course is to present frequent topics in orthopaedics. It is given as PC and video presentations in the study room. It is focused on differential diagnosis in main topics in orthopaedics. Modern trends in the management are discussed. At the end of the course, students should have deeper knowledges in the main topics in orthopaedics mainly regarding to establish diagnosis, to use diagnostic tools, to discuss differential diagnosis and should understand modern trends in management. After finishing the course the students are entitled to get credit.

- Programme of the course Diagnostics and management in orthopaedic surgery The fourth – sixth school year, VSDL071 The course is given in PC and video presentations in the study room. The course is prepared for students interested in orthopaedics. It is focused on differential diagnosis in main topics in orthopaedics. Modern trends in the management are discussed. Topics: Diseases of bone (types, diagnostic tools, differential diagnosis, management). Diseases of joints (types, diagnostic tools, differential diagnosis, management). Endoprosthetics (types, material, fixation in the bone, complications, modern trends) Muskuloskeletal tumors (types, diagnostic tools, differential diagnosis, management). The hip in adults (anatomy, type of diseases, differential diagnosis, management). Congenital anomalies (types, diagnosis, diagnostic tools, differential diagnosis, management) Frequent orthopaedic diseases in childhood (types, diagnostic tools, management). Deformities of the spine (anatomy, types, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, management). Fractures of the spine (types, diagnosis, management). Back pain ( types, imaging, differential diagnosis, management, modern trends) Diseases of the shoulder (types, diagnostic tools, differential diagnosis, management). Diseases of the wrist and the hand (types, diagnostic tools, management). Diseases and injuries of the knee (types, diagnosis, diagnostic tools, management). Diseases of the foot (types, diagnostic tools, management).
