Course objectives
The course gives an introduction to health care ethics. The aim of the course is: to introduce to health care ethics; to give information about ethical dilemmas in current medicine and health care; to learn how to prevent problems respecting ethical professional standards.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction (terminology, history, methods) 2. Patient rights - obligations of health care providers 3. Informed consent 4. Patient-physician relationship, patient-nurse relationship 5. Truth about diagnosis (ethics of cummunication) 6. Personal data protection in health care 7. Information and privacy procection, documentation, reserach 8. Transplantation ethics 9. Ethics in assisted reproduction 10. Prenatal and preimplantation diagnosis, genetic screening 11. Ethical problems in intensive care 12. Care of terminally ill and dying patients 13. Euthanasia, assisted suicide 14. Ethics in biomedical research
