Supplier department: Department of Optometry and Orthoptics – Departments of Non-medical Branches – Faculty of Medicine - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- Course objectives
- Geometric optics is based on principles of classical geometry assuming light to be a ray. It discuss the rules of propagating of the light rays through the optical environments with various optical properties and through the boundaries between them. Content of the subject is adapted to the needs of optometry bachelor study.
- Syllabus
- 1. Laws of geometric optics, index of refraction 2. Fermat`s principle 3. Total reflection, Brewster angle 4. Projection by mirrors 5. Plan-parallel plate, optical wedge 6. Dispersion, Abbe number, optical glass catalogue 7. Optical prism, minimal deviation 8. Fresnel equations 9. Projection by the spherical boundary (in a general and paraxial space) 10. Projection by spherical mirrors, focal points 11. Projection by the system of spheciral boundaries - thick lens 12. Principal points of thick lens, focal points 13. Projection of thin lens 14.
