Course objectives
The course is delivered in a blended-learning mode, face-to-face and online. Its aim is to develop spoken, oral/aural communicative competence in every-day and academic situations, practice reading and writing skills necessary in daily life and academic environment, consolidate and expand grammatical knowledge, introduce subject specific terminology, as well as to offer insight into European education, culture and current affairs.
Learning outcomes
1. General English  practices the use of all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading, writing) as described by the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR)  offers a wide variety of topics to meets students need and interests  exploits both course book and authentic materials (newspapers, magazines, books, websites, podcast etc.)  develops language, soft, and academic skills using various media  supports course participants pair, group, and team work through discussions and collaborative tasks  is based on classwork, homework, and online work 2. English for Specific Purposes  teaches basic terminology and structures typical of English for Specific Purposes  focuses on scientific subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics  introduces the European standards of university examinations  trains the basics of entrance examination specific strategies  helps course participants to be able to participate in the Foundation course
Syllabus
  • The syllabus is both functional-notional and topical. Its aim is to develop spoken, oral/aural communicative competence in every-day and academic situations, practice reading and writing skills necessary in daily life and academic environment, consolidate and expand grammatical knowledge, introduce subject specific terminology, as well as to offer insight into European education, culture and current affairs.
