Course objectives
Student is able to understand problems of traumatology; - student can explain basic investigation methods in traumatology; - student can describe individual injuries of body organs and systems; - student is capable to ensure the basics in nursing care at the traumatology department.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - define types of wounds, describe advanced surgical treatment of skeletal injuries; to list the types of fractures and their treatment; define traumatic affection of ligaments, tendons and joints; to define the organization of traumatological care in the Czech Republic. Describe: traumatic shock, MOF, SIRS, sepsis, myorenalis syndrome, compartment syndrome. To describe basic aspects in nursing care in patients with trauma. The student will be able to take care of a patient with trauma and polytrauma.
Syllabus
  • Nursing care of individual injuries: Wounds, types of wounds, wound healing, advanced surgical therapy; Skeletal injuries and their typization, healing of fractures; Trauma of ligaments, tendons and joints, Conservative treatment of fractures, types of fixation; Osteosynthesis: indications, types and treatment; Organization of traumatological care in the Czech republic. Traumatic shock, MOF, SIRS, sepsis, myorenale syndrom, compartement syndrom; demage control surgery, multiple injuries; Trauma of central nervous system, spinal cord and peripheral nervous system; Chest trauma, pneumothorax, fluidothorax, heart, lung, large blood vessels, mediastinum; Abdominal trauma, GIT, parenchymatous organs, haemoperitoneum; Trauma of upper limbs; Trauma of lower limbs; Trauma of pelvis, spine, retroperitoneum, urotract. Complications in Traumatology, Infection, Pain, thromboembolic disease. Highly specialized nursing care for patients in shock conditions. Trauma, polytrauma, injury by injury mechanism, eg burn injury, maltreatment and others.
