Course objectives
The goal of the seminar is to practice the lectures issues. At the end of course student will be able to interpret the syntactic phenomena of contemporary Russian language; to compare the structure of simple sentences in Russian and Czech languages; to analyze the syntactic constructions; on the basis of acqiured information to form and to translate Russian sentences correctly.
Syllabus
  • 1.Syntactical units. Similarities and differences between the Russian and Czech languages.
  • 2.The simple sentence. Determining the kinds of sentences according to the communicative intent.
  • 3.Specifics of Russian negative sentences.
  • 4.The main sentence elements: subject and predicate. Determining the types of predicates.
  • 5.The attribute. Using of the attribute in Russian.
  • 6.Direct and indirect object. Supplement. Modes of expression. Translation structures with complement to Czech.
  • 7.Adverbial: classification, modes of expression.
  • 8.Analysis one-element sentences.
  • 9.The differences of the use of one-element sentences in Russian in comparison with Czech language.
  • 10.Analysis sentences with multiple sentence parts.
  • 11.Analysis sentences with loosely attached sentence parts, semipredicative structures and introductory words.
  • 12. Revision.

Homework; theoretical training; syntactic exercises; reading and listening of Russian texts; translation exercises.
Assessment methods
The credit requirements: 1. regular assessment and doing the required home assignments based on the learnt theory and terminology. 2. test at the end of course based on the work done in the class.
