Prerequisites
The course is taught in   Russian language. It is desirable knowledge of Russian language at the level of the successful management of 1st and 2nd year fall semester RJaL field.

Course objectives
To form a positive attitude to the Russian culture. Thy should learn what the life in present Russia is like, as well as what the Russian traditions are.They should also learn basic Russian cultural phenomenona and their projection into Russian language. Students should also improve their knowledge of Russian as well as they should improve their verbal skills.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has an overview of Russian culture of different historical periods, on the international significance of Russian culture. The student can find information, texts and videos on RuNet and functionally use them. The student controls the thematic vocabulary (part of the course is a dictionary in IS).

  • 1. Development of Russian Fine Arts. Icons, iconographers. 2. Secular painting. Significant Russian painters 18.-19. century. 3. Significant Russian painters end 19-20. century. 4. Russian folk music. National musical instruments. 5. Russian classical music. Famous composers of the 19th century. 6. Russian music in the 20th century. Contemporary Russian music. 7. The development of Russian theater until the 19th century. 8. Russian Theater in 19-20. century. 9. Russian ballet. Djagilev's Russian seasons. 10. The development of Russian cinema in the 20th century. Popular Russian actors and Russian actresses. 11. Contemporary Russian films and series. 12. Revision.

Teaching methods
Lectures. Theoretical preparation for the exam during the study.
Assessment methods
Oral and written exam. If the student does not perform well at his written exam (grades D or E), he can improve at the oral exam by showing better knowledge. The answers to the questions based on the given topics. Pragmatic and stylistic accuracy will be evaluated in the written as well as in the oral exam.
