- Course objectives
- Reading primary works of Russian literature is necessary not only for teaching literary subjects, but also represents an indispensable foundation for contextual connection of understanding of Russian history, culture, cultural studies, etc. List of literary works for home-reading covers various genres, styles and currents; especially writers who belong to the world-famous classics. Students read separately given literary works, at the seminar they consult their questions, concerns, analysis and interpretations.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students gain the habit of reading in Russian; understand the style of a particular author; interpret specific literary work; develop their critical thinking not only about literature; they develop critical writing in Russian; understand the specific manifestations of various currents in Russian literature.

Puškin: «Я помню чудное мгновение...»; «Зимнее утро» (2 poems in the original) 5. M. J. Lermontov: "Parus" (poem in the original), "Demon" (poem, can be translated) 6. L. N. Tolstoj: "Otets Sergii" (in original) 7. F. I. Ťutčev (F.I.Tyutchev: "Umom Rossiyu ne ponjat ...") - a poem in the original 8. M. Cvetajeva: Verše Čechám (can be translated) 9. A. P. Cechov: Cherry Orchard (can be translated, but at least the final in the original)
