- Course objectives
- The course "Social Pedagogy in Theory and Practice" aims to introduce students to the basic categories, paradigms and current topics of social pedagogy, emphasizing both theoretical and practical aspects of the field. Students will gain an overview of professional sources relevant to their studies and acquire the ability to critically reflect on social pedagogical phenomena in everyday reality through analogies and comparisons.
Training in design as a form of social pedagogical work is also an important part of the course, where learners individually design the framework of a social pedagogical project. This is based on a thorough study of the literature and theoretical sources. The aims of the course are in line with the learning outcomes, where the skills of critical reflection and application of theoretical knowledge in practice play a key role.
Teaching involves working with learners' motivations for studying the discipline and confronting their ideas about social pedagogy with the discipline's mission. Awareness of the social environment's influence on one's values and attitudes is also an important part of the course.
This course provides students with a comprehensive overview of social pedagogy and creates a direct link to other practice-oriented courses within the curriculum. - Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, learners will be able to:
1. Define social pedagogy (SP) as a scientific discipline (definition supported by professional sources).
2. Place SP in the context of other social science disciplines.
3. Navigate the literature and work with specialist sources.
4. Reflect on social pedagogical phenomena in everyday reality and explain them through available theories.
5. Characterise the importance of the environment for both the target groups of SP and oneself and reflect on one's own value orientation.
6. Understand the principles and values on which social pedagogy is based.
7. Design the framework of a social pedagogical project. - Syllabus
