Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with one of the methods of applied drama under the guidance of a foreign lecturer. In the autumn semester 2024, under the guidance of Austrian lecturer Magoa Hanke, we will participate in a workshop on topic "Potential of Shadow Theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed Methods for Working with Target Groups in Social Pedagogy with Respect to a Trauma-Awareness Approach" Shadow theatre and Theatre of the Oppressed methods offer significant potential for engaging target groups in social pedagogy, particularly when integrated with a trauma-awareness approach. Both techniques create safe and creative spaces for self-expression, which are essential in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Both methods support the principles of trauma-awareness by fostering empowerment, creating safety, building trust, and encouraging gradual exposure to challenging emotions or experiences. These techniques help participants develop resilience, communication skills, and a stronger sense of community, making them highly effective for social pedagogical work with vulnerable groups.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the student.:
will be able to describe and explain the selected method of applied drama
will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and experience from the workshop in the practice of drama applied in the field of social pedagogy.
will develop their communication skills in a foreign language.

Assessment methods
Credit. Students present their own proposal (drama lessons / project) how the knowledge and experience gained from the workshop can be used in their practice in the field of social pedagogy. Written record of the workshop.
Náhradní absolvování
In the case of a study abroad trip, it is possible to take the course in an alternative form. The student will attend a 2-day applied drama workshop of his/her choice with a foreign lecturer. The learner will keep a reflective journal during the workshop, submit a detailed methodological description of the workshop to the drop-off room and reflect on the experience with the course supervisor.
