- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course enables foreign students to conduct teaching practice in the Czech Republic. The course is divided into two blocks: 1) teaching practice at school; 2) practice at the selected free-time education centre. The aim of the first block of teaching practice is to develop professional competences of future teachers, to equip them with the knowledge of roles that the teacher plays at his/her work, to make them aware of their own professional needs as educators and enable develop their intercultural skills when addressing situations involving intercultural issues. The teaching practice is conducted at clinical schools that closely cooperating with the Faculty of Education, MU. Within the second block of teaching practice, students learn more about the selected area of educational reality. The objective of this block is to carry out activities related to pedagogical work in the chosen institution (e.g. teaching, shadowing, consultation, observation, etc.). These activities are chosen based on an agreement with a mentor from the selected institution. During the course, students are also provided opportunities for group reflection of their intercultural experience gained in their own teaching practice.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students: - are able to design lesson plans, - are able to assess the level of acquired professional competencies, - are aware of their own professional needs as educators, - gain understanding of intercultural incidents in various learning context encountered in their teaching practice, - are able to reflect on their teaching experience and use reflection as a tool for own professional self-development, - understand the requirements associated with working with children within their free time.
- Syllabus
- In total teaching practice takes 60 hours. The first block of teaching practice consists of 40 hours: - 20 hours spent in school (10 hours of own teaching and 10 hours of other work in school, e.g. helping mentor with correction of tests, preparation of teaching aids); - 20 hours of preparation for instruction; The second block of teaching practice consists of 20 hours: - the student spends this time directly in the chosen institution conducting activities that he / she will arrange in advance with the mentor (e.g. teaching, shadowing, consultations, observation, etc.).
