Course objectives
Students will acquire the skills and practical skills in the area of communication skills development of the hearing impaired With disabilities; Will be orientated in compensatory aids used in rehabilitation of hearing impaired individuals; In the possibilities of reeducation of hearing and speech in children and adults with auditory defects; Learn about text editing options for Readers with hearing impairment and their use in practice. Outputs expected:  the student is familiar with the classification, etiology and symptomatology of hearing impairment;  orientation in diagnostic approaches and methods in working with children with hearing impairment;  Controls therapeutic approaches;  knows the possibilities of interdisciplinary cooperation.
Learning outcomes
The student is oriented in the system of education of children, pupils and students with hearing impairment and problems the employment of people with hearing impairment in the open labor market; it focuses on the choice of adequate communication approaches in schools for the hearing impaired and the mainstream schools educational stream; it is oriented in the legislative regulations relating to the area of education of children and pupils with hearing impairment, as well as counseling and social services for people with hearing disabilities.

  • Main themes (syllabus):  Classification of auditory defects according to different criteria.  Diagnosis of Hearing Defects - Hearing Methods.  Early intervention of individuals with hearing impairment - care system.  Ontogenetic development of speech in children with hearing impairment.  Individual speech therapy in counseling and school facilities for the hearing impaired.  Compensatory and speech therapy aids used in the rehabilitation of hearing impaired individuals.  Hearing Education - Reaction to sound, identification and differentiation of sounds, phonemic hearing, sentence discrimination.  Breathing exercises and voice deductions - conscious voice use, voice hygiene.  Development of visual perception and lax training.  Global reading, interviewing, journaling, reading with and understanding texts for SP.  Voice extraction, fixation and automation of individual voices.  Hearing analysis and synthesis of words, development of vocabulary.  Visual-motor communication systems and their use in practice.

Course objectives
The student will acquire basic konwledge of the diagnostics of hearing impairment and will be oriented in the problematics of diagnostics process, the student will get a knowledge of diagnostics of hearing impairment by work with children in school age, diagnostic methods used in the diagnostics of hearing impairment. The student will learn the knowledge ofspecial educational counceling in this age category. At the end of the course student should be able to understand communication forms of peopele with hearing impairment. After completing this course, student will be able to define the specifics of care for people with hearing impaired from birth to end of life. Student will be able to describe the specifics and conditions for the acquisition of the Czech language for the deaf people and will be able to describe aids for persons with hearing disabilities. Student will be able to characterize the possibility of early intervention and progress; student will be able to describe the structure of comprehensive care for people with hearing disabilities; education System; employment opportunities; It will also be acquainted with the different visual-motor communication systems; will know the possibilities of translation for the people with hearing disabilities. Students will continue to focus on the care of people with dual sensory disability, including the possibility of communication.

  • Methods of diagnostics of hearing impairment. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Tools and apparatuses, tests and methods used in testing. Counceling, SPC. Psychological peculiarities of people with hearing disabilities, principles and work methods, various ways of commmunication, language competences of the people with hearing impairment, technical aids, reeducation of hearing and speech of children and adults with hearing disorders, early intervention, specifics of work with people with hearing impairment and deaf people, educational proces of hearing impaired children, condition of integration, inclusion, employ of hearing impaired, sign language, interpreting, hearing impairment and additional handicap, special care of deafblind people. At the end of the course student should be able to understand following terminology: sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics aspects of communication hearing impaired people, sign language in the Deaf community, features of natural language, phonetics and phonology of sign language. On successful completion of the course student will be also able to understand issue of interpreting to sign language and will be familiar with The ethics code of sign language interpreters. Student will be informed about communication forms of deafblind people.

The student will learn the knowledge ofspecial educational counceling in this age category. At the end of the course student should be able to understand communication forms of peopele with hearing impairment. After completing this course, student will be able to define the specifics of care for people with hearing impaired from birth to end of life. Student will be able to describe the specifics and conditions for the acquisition of the Czech language for the deaf people and will be able to describe aids for persons with hearing disabilities. Student will be able to characterize the possibility of early intervention and progress; student will be able to describe the structure of comprehensive care for people with hearing disabilities; education System; employment opportunities; It will also be acquainted with the different visual-motor communication systems; will know the possibilities of translation for the people with hearing disabilities. Students will continue to focus on the care of people with dual sensory disability, including the possibility of communication.
Syllabus
  • Methods of diagnostics of hearing impairment. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Tools and apparatuses, tests and methods used in testing. Counceling, SPC. Psychological peculiarities of people with hearing disabilities, principles and work methods, various ways of commmunication, language competences of the people with hearing impairment, technical aids, reeducation of hearing and speech of children and adults with hearing disorders, early intervention, specifics of work with people with hearing impairment and deaf people, educational proces of hearing impaired children, condition of integration, inclusion, employ of hearing impaired, sign language, interpreting, hearing impairment and additional handicap, special care of deafblind people. At the end of the course student should be able to understand following terminology: sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics aspects of communication hearing impaired people, sign language in the Deaf community, features of natural language, phonetics and phonology of sign language. On successful completion of the course student will be also able to understand issue of interpreting to sign language and will be familiar with The ethics code of sign language interpreters. Student will be informed about communication forms of deafblind people.

Syllabus
  • At the end of the course student should be able to understand following terminology: sociolinguistics and psycholinguistics aspects of communication hearing impaired people, sign language in the Deaf community, features of natural language, phonetics and phonology of sign language. On successful completion of the course student will be also able to understand issue of interpreting to sign language and will be familiar with The ethics code of sign language interpreters. The student will acquire theoretical knowledge of diagnostics and therapy of various types of communication disorders; has deepened knowledge of the diagnostics and therapy of rhinolalia, palatolalia, stuttering, tumultus sermonis; and, also, has deep knowledge and practical experience in the field of alternative communication; the acquired knowledge and skills can be used in speech therapy intervention in educational and medical speech-therapy facilities.

Course objectives
The student will acquire theoretical knowledge of diagnostics and therapy of various types of communication disorders; has deepened knowledge of the diagnostics and therapy of rhinolalia, palatolalia, stuttering, tumultus sermonis; and, also, has deep knowledge and practical experience in the field of alternative communication; the acquired knowledge and skills can be used in speech therapy intervention in educational and medical speech-therapy facilities.

The student will know the problematics of the speech therapy, therapy of disordered voice – rhinolalia, comprehensive rehabilitation care, cleft palate, speech therapy of cleft palate, pharyngs in-sufficiency, care before and after operation, dysartria, developmental and gained, rules of the speech development of children with cerebral disorders, current therapeutic trends, reflex locomotion, orofacial stimulation, dysphagia, hypersalivation, therapy of dysartria, alternative and augmentative communication, therapy of balbuties, various forms of balbuties, therapy of voice disorders, prevention, voice hygiene.
Syllabus
  • The speech therapy: therapy of rhinolalia, speech therapy of cleft palate. Pharyngs in-sufficiency, care before and after operation. Dysartria, developmental and gained, rules of the speech development of children with cerebral disorders. Current therapeutic trends, reflex locomotion, orofacial stimulation. Dysphagia, hypersalivation, therapy of dysartria, alternative and augmentative communication. Therapy of balbuties, various forms of balbuties. Therapy of voice disorders, prevention, voice hygiene.
