The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
Course objectives
The subject in theoretical level introduces to problematics of education and teaching of individuals that demand a special care.
At the end of the course, the students will be able:
- Define the position of social pedagogy in the pedagogical sciences and all their supporting fields.
- Define the basic focuses of interest and the possibilities of an individual approach with special needs.
- Understand the difficulties of particular handicaps and possibilities to educate the individuals suffering from the handicap.

Syllabus
  • 1. Definition of special pedagogy, professional terminology, special pedagogical needs 2. Special pedagogical diagnostics, spec. pg. methods, inclusive school approach 3. Specifics of working with students with disabilities (Impaired ability to communicate - specifics speech therapy work as inspiration for supporting the communication skills of children with SEN, didactic aids; Sensory defects (visual and hearing impairments) - specifics of working with pupils, compensatory aids; Somatopathies – defects of the locomotor system, compensatory aids; Psychopedia - mental disability, autism spectrum disorders) 4. Alternative and augmentative communication elements (e.g. pictograms) as support for communication with a student with SEN 5. Etopedics – basic knowledge of solving educational problems 6. Specific personality traits of a child with SVP. Relationships in the school team. Cooperation with the school special pedagogue. 7. School counseling facilities. Legislation. IVP 8. Educator and pedagogical work with a child with disabilities. Family and school cooperation (mediation). Basic principles of integration of pupils with special educational needs
