Cílem předmětu je podat praktický přehled o vývojových obdobích hudební tvorby od počátků po současnost prostřednictvím posluchačských zkušeností vedoucích k orientaci v základních rysech slohových období a dílech jejich významných představitelů. Seminář navazuje prakticky na předmět Dějiny hudby 4, doplňuje teoretické informace poslechem ukázek.
