Course objectives (in Czech)
This course will examine theories and techniques for teaching English as a foreign language to learners with specific learning disabilities. Information, resources and examples of teaching methods used in the United States will be provided. Students will examine ways to integrate valuable practices into classroom settings.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • This class meets weekly. Each session will include a warm-up exercise, brief lecture, group activity and a dialogue journal. Students will complete one written essay and a group oral presentation. Articles will be posted on the Internet for supplemental reading. COURSE OBJECTIVES 1. To provide an overview of educational theories and teaching methods 2. To develop an accessible resource base 3. To give students an opportunity to synthesize American and Czech practices in working with this specific population of learners 4. To allow students to use English communication in one-to-one, small group and whole class situations while discussing pedagogical practices.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
This course is based on 100 points that will be divided among the following activities Class participation 26 points Dialogue journal 24 points Essay 25 points Presentation 25 points Total maximum 100 points Students must achieve a minimum of 65% to pass the course.
