The English course is designed for students who passed "vstupní test" and are registered in the course SZ7BP_1AB1 English for Teachers A and need to consolidate their language skills.

Course objectives
In the optional course Practical English A, students will consolidate and develop all four language skills with the focus on grammar, listening comprehension, and speaking in the area of general English. Course objectives: 1) grammar practice; 2)enhancing all language skills.

  • SZ7BP_AJA Practical English A Week 1 - Week 5 Grammar: Present simple, present continuous; Past simple, past continuous; Vocabulary: Daily routine; Family life - relationships; In the home; Week 6 – Week 10 Grammar:Present perfect simple; Past vs. Present Perfect. Expressing future in English; Adjectives - comparatives, superlatives; Vocabulary: Making friends (best friends, personalities, social interaction); Describing appearance, clothes; Keeping fit, healthy/unhealthy lifestyle; Eating and drinking; Week 11 – Week 14 Grammar: Adjectives ending in –ed, -ing; Modal verbs; Pronouns, possessives, determiners; Vocabulary: Leisure time; Education; Ways of communication

Teaching methods
Weekly forty-five-minute seminars designed for teaching Practical English (acitvities developing students' awarness of language skills and systems within B1 level - grammar and vocabulary practice,listening and reading tasks, and other speaking activities etc.).
Assessment methods
Course requirements: 1) Attendance (only 2 seminars can be missed); 2) Active participation in classes + careful home preparation.
