- This subject is primarily designed for PhD students from all Masaryk university who would like to register in the library of the newly opened CVIDOS (Center of research institutes and doctoral studies) at Faculty of Education and use its services.

- Course objectives
- This subject is designed for PhD students from all faculties at Masaryk University. The content presents selected areas of work with specialized information which are necessary for PhD students and they are not optimally included in their field of study. The aim of the course is to present to students topics and areas that enable them effectively work in the academic environment and develop scientific and research activities. Its aim is also to optimize cooperation between PhD students from all faculties and using of collection of scientific literature and consulting of specialized departments at Masaryk University focused on complete work with information - specifically CVIDOS.
- Syllabus
- The subject is conceived as a cycle of thematic lectures with activating elements - each lecture in the range of 90 minutes (lecture focused on grants will take approximately 120 minutes). Topics of lectures: 1. Searching of information 2. Citing in the scientific texts 3. Writing opponents opinions on theses 4. Ethical aspects of scientific work 5. Reporting the results of scientific work 6. Grant calls and requests for grant 7. Trends in presentation skills at conferences.
- Teaching methods
- Classes will be conducted in the form of "interactive" lectures. Each unit will include educational theory (interpretive) part, then students will work in groups or individually on the problematic tasks, or in specific situations. At the end of the teaching unit, students will present the results of their activities by diverse forms (according to the intention of the teacher. Lecturers will use motivational and activiting teaching methods.
- Assessment methods
- Presentation of team and individual student activities or continuous performance tasks in each thematic lesson will serve to verify the planned outputs. The lecturer will provide for students the evaluation during the lesson or at the end of it. Requirement for successful graduation and gaining of credit is a proactive approach to learning, involvement in activating elements of lectures, active input into inter-faculty professional communication of PhD students by the registration in CVIDOS.
