Course objectives
Students are lead and instructed how to analyse selected texts, and how to formulate the assessment criteria in relation to the specificity of literature for young adults.
Syllabus
  • The main genres and topics in literature for children and youth in 90th. The problem of handicap in literature for children and youth. Picture books before and today. Postmodern tendency in literature for children and youth.

Teaching methods
In the form of a seminar (analyses and interpretations of selected works), students will get a broader knowledge of literature for young adults. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities of the studied period. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
