Course objectives
After successful completion of this course the student will understand the terminology associated with the issue of alternative and augmentative communication. Will be familiar with the principles of communication systems using tools (VOKS, pictograms) and unaided (sign to speech, Makaton). Also demonstrating the principles of selection AAC system for pupils with impaired communication skills and techniques facilitating the communication process.

  • Communication - verbal, nonverbal. Communication process. Augmentative and alternative communication. Static systems, dynamic systems. Communication systems with tools and without aids. Problems of selection of communication system.
