The basic study material is New English File Upper Intermediate. The students who do not pass Practical language 2A and 2B have to take a revision test covering the syllabus of the two courses (ZS1BP_AJ2A and AJ2B) to be able to continue in ZS1BP_AJ3A.

Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at the Upper-Intermediate Level. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File UPPER - Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at the Upper-Intermediate Level and communicate in the language fluently.

  • The basic study material is the coursebook New English File UPPER -INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature bellow. The syllabus includes Units 3 - 4, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

Assessment methods
maximum of points for the semester : 200 points/ pass mark 140 points (to pass the tests students must reach minimum 70 %) Components of the assessment: written end-of-semester test based on the files covered in the seminars: pass mark 70%: 80 p (two resits) oral interviews: 50 p (no resits for this part, students get points for the overall assessment) placement test : 1 - 10 points (beginning of the semester) placement test: 2 - 20 points (end of the semester) progress test: 10 points (mid semester, no resits) continuous assessment based on active participation in the seminars: 30 points
