Course objectives
The course introduces selected aspects of Canadian and Australian culture, including contemporary trends and interests. It explores history, landscape, identity, language, and art. It develops soft skills: reading, analyzing, discussing, and presenting. It works with essays, folk songs, fiction, newspapers, films. Students prepare interviews, and are required to read one contemporary novel from a given region. Similarities and differences with aspects of British, American, and Czech culture are discussed. After completing the course, students are expected to have insight into and understanding of selected Canadian and Australian issues.
