- Výukové metody
- Interactive lectures to equip students with a concise overview of the British literature history, against the cultural and historical background. Mood-link-a support.
- Metody hodnocení
- COMPULSORY: Continuous assessment: * 3 tests. The tests will examine the material covered so far. The dates of the test will be announced well in advanced in class, via moodlinka and email. The tests are not subject to a resit unless exceptional conditions apply. The students must reach the 70% passmark on the tests (calculated together). If they reach less than 70% but more than 50%, they lose the right to the third sit of the credit test (they are only eligible to two sits). If they do not reach the 50% passmark, they fail the class. Summative assessment: * credit test. The test will be based on the material covered in the semester (British literature from the beginning till approx. 1945) and your reading. The test will focus on the main periods, movements, genres, authors and works, as well as include identifying a text and a short essay on the novel you have read (see below). The minimum passmark is 70%. OPTIONAL: 1. Although the lectures are not compulsory, attendance is highly recommended as the course represents the only concise overview of English literature which is needed for your successful passing of the class and of the state examinations. The class procedure will be based on discussions and consultations rather than frontal lecturing. 2. Before each class, students are encouraged to complete the relevant worksheet, including the pictures, which enhance learning and remembering especially with those of you who are visually oriented. When completing the worksheets, please refer to the lecture PPTs. to the chapters provided on the Moodlinka but also to other materials which deal with English literature history. Often, secondary school sources are sufficient (see the list of the recommended study sources)! 3. For the credit, the students will sit a test, covering the periods, genres, authors and works spanning the period of British literary history from the beginning till 1945. It is also assumed that the students have read the minimum one English classic novel, see the list of recommended authors at http://katedry.ped.muni.cz/anglictina/current-students/pedagogicke-asistentstvi/state-exam-topics.
