Course objectives
The aim of this course is to obtain a clear knowledge bases of semiconductor physics. Emphasis is placed on the acquisition of skills needed to explain the physical principles of individual applications based on semiconductors present in everyday life.
Syllabus
  • Band theory of solids. Conductors and insulators. Electrons and holes, the density of states in the band gap. Transport phenomena in semiconductors. Optical absorption and generation of excess carriers, recombination. Photovoltaic properties of semiconductors. Contact metal-semiconductor, Schottky diode. P-N transition, I-V characteristics. The basic technology of semiconductor components. The basic semiconductor devices.

Lecture, with the possibility of discussion. Conditions for obtaining credit -- 1.Attendence at least 80%. Any higher non-attendance will be dealt with individually with the teacher and only if it is properly justified. 2.Colloquium with two to three students in the selected issue.
