Course objectives
The course reminds the teachers of methods of solving mathematical tasks with the tools of students 11 to 15 years old.
Syllabus
  • 1. Solving tasks developing geometric and spatial imagination, mutual positions of points, lines, and planes in space, positional and metric tasks. 2. Tasks for checking the properties of geometric shapes, proofs of some properties. Pythagoras theorem and its applications. 3. Projection of geometric shapes in various projections - identity and scaling. Solving concrete application tasks with the application of geometric projection. 4. Solving construction tasks with the application of basic relationship between the elements, using sets of points with some property, and using geometric mappings. Positional and non-positional problems. 5. Solving interesting application tasks with the use of formulas for calculating the size of geometric shapes. 6. Solving problems in affine projection. Using ICT to illustrate various views on a solid and possibilities to use various programmes for solving tasks in solid geometry.
