- Course objectives
- Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of the Lusatian Serbs, who, like the Czechs, belong to the West Slavonic language area and their history has been closely connected since the reign of Luxembourg on the Czech throne until the Thirty Years War with the Czech environment. However, after the founding of the Lužický seminar in Prague, where a large part of the Sorbian intelligence was growing, cultural relations between Serbian Lusatia and Koruna were rich.
- Learning outcomes
- The student is acquainted with the historical development of relations between the Lusatian Serbs and the Czech Crown countries.
- Syllabus
- The lecture outlines the basic developmental stages of the history of the Lusatian Serbs from the beginning to the present. Attention is paid to the national and religious situation in Lusatia (evangelicals, Catholics), the period of national revival and development after both world wars. Part of the lectures are the Sorbian ethnographic studies, the most important memorials of Lužicko-Serbian literature and the Czech contribution to Lužice and Lužický Serbs.
