Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with selected foreign models of pre-school education, especially in the areas of preschool education and early care, curriculum, staffing and evaluation and research activities. Furthermore, to acquaint with the concept of the quality of pre-school education in the international context, especially in the context of the European Union.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - identify the main features of selected pre-school systems in the European Union; - describe the factors that influence the quality of pre-school education; - to compare the differences between the Czech system of pre-school education and the systems of other European Union countries; - outline the application of good practice examples from abroad to Czech pre-school education.

Teaching methods
Lecture, case study focused on partial aspects of preschool education in selected countries. Discussion over specified topics and literature. Searching for good practice examples that could be useful for pre-school education in the Czech Republic.
Assessment methods
Preparation and presentation of a case study. Evaluation criteria will be specified by IS teachers.
