- Course objectives
- Students will get a literary historical overview of changes in Czech literature for children and youth from the beginning to the present. Emphasis is on the form of current book production for children. Students will be able to interpret and critically reflect literary works for children on the basis of literary historical awareness.
- Learning outcomes
- Students are able to orientate themselves in the development of literature for youth in the context of social events and national literature, they are acquainted with its gold fund. They can analyze works from different genre areas (including narrative images and artistic production), recognize author's strategies. Students are able to formulate and defend evaluation criteria for literature critique of literature for youth and apply them in literary criticism and pedagogical practice.

- Teaching methods
- Students will get a broader knowledge of literature for young adults. They will be able to identify and analyze the style of outstanding personalities of the studied period. They will further develop their literary knowledge and interpretational skills with the aim to communicate with a literary work more effectively. They will creatively use their knowledge gained not only in contact classes but also in their individual study of recommended literature which they will be able to discuss regularly with their teacher.
- Assessment methods
- Examination topics are announced in the first week of the term in the Information System. To pass the exam students must demonstrate sound knowledge of the historical context (at least at the secondary school level) and literary historical relations to national and world literature. Moreover, students must demonstrate the ability to interpret pieces of literature based on their own reading (see the list of compulsory reading). Completion of the course: written examination
