- Course objectives
- The course follows on from the subject Cartography and Geoinformatics I. It is expected that students know the basics of the reconnaissance field of cartography, cartographic sources and cartographic principles of map creation. The aim of the course is to introduce students to the theoretical knowledge of the field of geoinformatics. Furthermore, students will learn about the possibilities of developing geo-information skills, which involve working with spatial data. The subject focuses on the development of skills for working with geo-information technologies freely accessible mainly via the Internet (working with map servers and portals, applications for smart phones, etc. After completing the course, students should be able to pass on basic knowledge to pupils in primary school and connect the curriculum with the expected outcomes.
- Learning outcomes
- Students: - master the basic theory of geoinformatics and geoinformation technologies; - explain the basic concepts and present the use of geoinformation technologies in practice and in education; - proposes the use of geoinformation technologies in the teaching of geography; - controls a number of freely available applications with a good understanding and advanced use of tools; - practically uses applications for orientation and data collection in the field.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to geoinformatics and geoinformation technology. 2. Geographic digital data, vector and raster data. 3. Geoportals, map servers, digital data sources. 4. Geographic information system. 5. Remote sensing. 6. Global navigation systems. 7. Geoinformation skills in teaching.
