Course objectives
There is presupposed knowledge of the linguistic disciplines that deal with contemporary language - syntax, stylistics and language analysis of the texts and it continues in the subjects of the Textual Linguistics 1.
During the semester the students acquire the theoretical information about text linguistics (terminology of the text and textual structure, composition, language means of the textual coherence - reference, connective words).
Learning outcomes
There is presupposed that in the end of the semester:
1. The students acquire the theoretical information about text linguistics (terminology of the text and textual structure, composition, language means of the textual coherence - reference, connective words).
2. Students are able to apply that theoretical knowledge doing the complex analysis of the text.
3. The student shall be write linguistic work / essay dealing with textual analysis.
Syllabus
  • Broadening the knowledge about textual syntax.
  • 1. Functional perspective of the sentence and text structure. Ellipsis, the types of ellipsis.
  • 2. Divergence in the sentential and textual structures. , parenthesis; factoring out of the sentential elements; contact expression; accessories by sentences.
  • 3. Connection of the textual units in the texts and connection of the textual units and texts with the discourse. Language means of the contact, their function.
  • 4. Complex analysis of the language means of the textual coherence in special texts.

Teaching methods
- Lecture, reading connected with the presentation of some written texts - explanation of the phenomena of textual syntax.
- Individual studying hours.
- Controlled dialogue, discussion about some theme of textual syntax.
Assessment methods
Credit requirements: written work - treatise of the size 4 and more pages. The treatise can be based on: The treatise can be based on:
a) complex analysis of some texts;
b) analysis of some textual phenomena in some text/texts (connectives, language means of reference, functional sentence perspective in texts; deictic words in texts...);
c) structuring of some texts;
d)syntax of spoken texts;
e)intertextual relationships (relationships among various texts);
f) literary and non-literary language in texts;
g) sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics and communication.
Students can suggest another theme.
