Course objectives
The subject of Phonetics 2 is a linguistically oriented course that develops linguistic competence in the field of phonetics and phonology of the language from user and also future teachers. It builds on the subjects of Phonetics exercises and Phonetics 1 (of 1 semester). The aim of the course is to practice suprasegmental phenomena of the French sound system with an emphasis on stress, rhythm and intonation, transcription and reading continuous text. Fixing of the correct pronunciation of sounds in the context of continuous text and training of correct liaison, stress and rhythm in line with the needs of the Czech teachers of French will be realised. An integral part of the seminar are orthographical practice – dictations, practicing of correct pronunciation through recitation of selected poems by heart (authors – Ronsard, Verlaine, Baudelaire, Apollinaire, ...) with analysis of the correct pronunciation (individual audio recordings). Students have also available e-learning training material. The course concludes with a written part (dictation, vocabulary) and an oral examination (reading of an unknown text, topics discussed in subjects Phonetics 1 and Phonetics 2). Students can work independently because this course has an e-learning support.
Learning outcomes
After the course student will be able to: - know the use of accents at word and sentence level in French; - know the rules of French spelling with respect to the pronunciation; - knows the basic rhythmic formulas; - mimic a particular intonation formulas based on listening; - learn a part of the spoken text with memory, use correctly the rhythmic and intonation formulas; - apply the knowledge and skills in practice.
