Course objectives
Students will learn how to identify the impacts of gender stereotypes and other types of inequalities on education proces, they will understand what does gender sensitive education mean and will learn the methods of teaching that will lead to participatory learning and will reflect experience of both genders. Students will discuss and formulate their views on gender aspects in education and will elaborate selected topic in a seminar thesis. They will go through workshops focused on the reflection of topics such as sexual education, choice of professional path etc.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to understand the gender perspective and analyse pedagogical processes in terms of equality and non-discrimination based on gender and sexuality. They will be able to evaluate different educational tools, strategies and contents in terms of gender sensitivity and to design appropriate environments and curricula.

  • 1. Gender inequalities in education, horizontal and vertical segregation in education and their impacts in different levels of education. 2. Gender sensitive paedagogy and its principles, gender sensitive language 3. Gender stereotypes and discriminatory presentatins of men and women in textbooks, media, advertisements 4. Paedagogical approach to boys and girls - gender based differences and their impact and reflection 5. Gender content within subjects 6. Issues in gender sensitive education - textbooks, teacher´s approach, communication, gender sensitive topics in education
