- Course objectives
- The aim of the practice is to verify the student's readiness to work in kindergarten. Students should be able to reflect on their pedagogical activities, but also on nursery schools' approaches to educating children.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course the students will be able to: to plan a personalized pre-school education; implement educational activities in accordance with constructivist approaches; evaluate the implemented educational project; formulate a self-reflection of own professional skills; formulate the goals of their professional development in which they need support before their employment; to organize a student portfolio so that it can continuously be used as a career portfolio.
- Syllabus
- Practice runs five weeks in kindergartens in the resident city of the students. During the first week the students observe classes of a selected teacher. They observe the class as a whole system as well each child individually, the environment of the school, its equipment, etc. During another two-week period, the student is ready to implement the project under the supervision of one teacher. After the first three weeks of practice a reflective seminar at the Faculty of Education takes place. This is followed by another two-week period of practice. After ending the practice, there is another reflective seminar. Both reflective seminars are organized as a focus group. Sharing experience from various kindergartens through presentations and subsequent comparison with the experience and knowledge of teaching practice in nursery schools can help the students to create a real image of preschool education. Another seminar will take place at the end of practice. Both seminars enable students to realize what demands will be placed on them after starting their career and what kind of support for novice teachers they will need. In the second seminar the students will have an opportunity to organize their student portfolios for a presentation at the final examination.
