Cíle předmětu
V Úvodu do studia literatury se studenti seznámí se základními pojmy literární vědy. Výchozím bodem budou obecná zamyšlení nad literaturou, příbuznostmi a naopak odlišnostmi literatury od jiných disciplín, nad její povahou a funkcí a rolí jazyka v literatuře. S pomocí filozofie a lingvistiky budeme analyzovat proces literární komunikace a různá pojetí autora, čtenáře, literárního díla a jeho významu. Zejména z hlediska praktického budou diskutovány pojmy syžetu a fabule, typologie postav, hlavní žánry a vyprávěcí techniky, tropy a základy poetiky (rytmus, rým, verš, aliterace a jiné). V samostatné kapitole bude pojednáno o otázce stylu a v české literární teorii méně užívaných pojmech jako jsou např. juxtapozice a intertextualita. Závěr přednášky bude věnován stručnému přehledu vývoje anglosaské literární kritiky. Cílem cyklu je poskytnout studentům dobré literárně teoretické zázemí a současně praktickou výbavu pro textovou analýzu, které budou užívat v návazných literárních seminářích. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic literary theory and and teach them how to use its tools in reading and analysis. The starting point will be provided by activities related to the definition of literature and the process and practice of reading. We will then proceed to more technical and practical instruments of literary theory, which assist better understanding and greater enjoyment of reading.

Metody hodnocení
PLEASE NOTE: The course is hands-on, based on activities rather than lecturing. You are expected to work both for and in the sessions. Evaluation: workbook activities, mood-link-a, written test The test will be based on the range of topics discussed in the lectures.
