- Course objectives
- Fundamentals of cartography and topography Differentiation of geodetic, topographic and cartographic activities. The consequences of the Earth's shape for its cartographic depicting and image. Formation of maps and means of cartographic expression. Modern cartographic means - digitalisation, geographical information systems and remote sensing of the Earth. Kinds and properties of map works, maps of the territory of the Czech Republic.
- Syllabus
- 1. The science of "cartography", definitions and structure, commission and function of maps
- 2. The geometrical essence of maps, the shape of the Earth and referential superficies
- 3. Coordinate systems, catrographical projections, horizprojection and projectional modes
- 4. Cartographical projections, clasifications, simple projections, general projections, the choice of projection
- 5. The creating of maps, astronomico-geodetical works, field mapping, photogrammetrical methods
- 6. The edition and completing of maps, cartographical drawing, and cartographical polygraphy
- 7. Coordinate nets, supplemental and constructional elements of maps
- 8. The means of cartographical representation, point, line and areal symbols, cartograms and cartodiagrams, colours, description and scales
- 9. The classification of cartographical works, general cartographical maps, thematical maps
- 10. Modern cartographical methods
- 11. The creating of maps by RSE
- 12. Cartographical applications in the environment GIS
