Course objectives
The aim of this subject is to practise pronunciation of German vowels, diphthongs and consonants. The practice of German phonemes missing in Czech is especially stressed. Special attention is paid to German stress and also to German reduction of unstressed syllables.
Syllabus
  • 1. German stress 2. Pronunciation practice of German phones with stress on phonemes missing in Czech 3. Reduction in German pronunciation 4. German assimilation in comparison with the Czech one 5. German intonation Seminar, compulsory subject, credit: The students are supposed to read a short text reading and to master German pronunciation. Each student leads and complements his own phonetic lexicon. Students are suppposed to show their phonetic lexicons to get the credit.

Assessment methods
Seminar, compulsory subject, credit. The students read a short German text. Right pronunciation of problematic German phones learnt in the first semester is stressed. The students show their own phonetic wordbook.
