Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain the main topics of the history of the german speaking countries. In the lecture on the „history of German-speaking countries“ will be given an overview on the history of Germany, Austria and Switzerland - the three countries understand itself as a region. The students should have an overall view to understand their study topic also in its historical and political dimension. In addition will be ensured that students have a Basic terminology and deal passive with specialized german texts.
Syllabus
  • We will concentrate on the most important moments of historical development in this region, beginning in the prehistoric to the present. Thematicaly we will deal with the development in the German-speaking countries politically, socially, culturally and economically und we will compare the situation with czech history.
