- Course objectives
- The course follows the Syntax 1 and anticipates Syntax 2. The aim is to learn French sentence structure (in comparison with the Czech language) with an emphasis on the specifics of the French (the word order, tenses of time, use the time and manner in dependent clauses).
- Syllabus
- Analysis of concepts: "phrase", "énoncé", "énonciation". Procedures used in syntax analysis – substitution, commutation. Types and modality of a simple sentence. Types of sentences from the view of sentence position – juxtaposition, co-ordination, subordination, correlation. Sentence parts. French word order – inversion, dislocation"détachement", "mise en relief". Analysis and typology of utterance, functional sentence perspective.
