- Course objectives
- The main objective is to improve the students' English in all four major skill groups: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Classes will cover Units 1-2 in the coursebook New English File Advanced. As students are training to be teachers, they will be expected to take an active role in their own learning, with an eye toward understanding how to share information with their peers, and later their own students.At the end of the course students should be able to understand how to present a topic of interest to them. They should be able to interpret texts of an advanced level and be able to respond to advanced-level input with a high level of accuracy.

- Teaching methods
- Students will take part in pair-work, group-work, class discussions and online forums and will be expected to give a presentation and write an assignment.
- Assessment methods
- Continuous assessment includes an overall passing performance on three reading comprehension tests, an oral presentation and self-assessment of individual portfolios. The final paper - about 500 words (1 page) will take a form of an independent analysis of a topic related to the cultural studies theme.
