Course outline: This is the first stage of a six term course of practical language intended to meet the needs of the future primary school teachers. The students' expected level is B1 according to the levels of the global scale of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The whole course is designed to lead the students from B1 to B2.

Course objectives
The main objective of this course is to focus on particular grammar points, enhance vocabulary and language skills: speaking, writing, reading and listening. Authentic materials will be used and presented throughout the course and due to the additional materials students awareness of diverse cultures will be raised. Students become competent language users and will be able to use the language in everyday situations.
Syllabus
  • The basic study material is the coursebook New English File INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook) - Multipack B, see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 4 - 5, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.
  • 4A - Back to school, aged 35 - First conditional and future time clauses; Education
  • 4B - In an ideal world... - Second Conditional; Houses
  • 4C - Still friends? - Usually and used to; Friendship
  • 5A - Slow down, you move too fast - Quantifiers; Noun formation
  • 5B - Same planet, different worlds - Articles; Verbs and adjectives + prepositions
  • 5C - Job swap - Gerunds and infinitives; Work
