- Course objectives
- he aim of the course is to provide students with more practice of the grammar issues discussed in Grammar A (compulsory course) and work on them systematically using various types of exercise including cloze tests, transformations, gap fill, text analysis, etc.
At the end of the course SWBAT: understand basic linguistic terminology and give examples in context; explain all the grammar features covered in Grammar A subject and give examples of them in context; analyze language use with focus on grammar; compare particular grammar features, their form and meaning
Students will also be familiar with various grammar books and sources recommended for study of grammar. - Syllabus
- Course outline: 1-2. Grammar books and other sources - where to look for info on grammar, examples and explanations; which sources to use and work with
- 3.-4. Various types of exercise and how to approach them for meaningful practice
- 5.-6. Work with context - text analysis with focus on grammar
- 7.-8. Text analysis - use of tenses, grammar vs. meaning, various types of verb, their characteristic features and use
- 9.-10. Text analysis - focus on the passive and active voice, transformations
- 11.-12. Students contributions (Grammar log project)
