- Course objectives
- At the end of the course, a participant: (a) is able to comment fluently, cultivately and in standard language on specialized issues of the Czech language and society-wide matters, particularly those that concern education and communication; (b) uses means of non-verbal communication and vocal techniques appropriately and effectively during public performances; (c) is knowledgeable about particular types of power-point presentations, their advantages and disadvantages, and s/he is able to use them effectively during public performances; (d) uses maxims of communication actively during communication; (e) is able to recognize manipulative techniques and rhetorical tricks in spoken and written discourse, and s/he uses them moderately and effectively if needed.

- 1. Processes and techniques suitable for the reduction of stage fright before a performance. 2. Recommendations for non-verbal components of public communication including vocal techniques. 3. Types and styles of power-point presentations, their advantages and disadvantages. 4. Composition of a public performance in the history and these days. 5. Rhetorical tricks. Rhetorical embellishments. 6. Maxims of communication. 7. Why is it appropriate to use standard Czech during public performances? Common Czech and other variants of the national language. Standard Czech and cultivated Czech. Codification reference books.

- Assessment methods
- The course participants perform a speech practice that will be assessed from the point of view of non-verbal communication, stylistics, composition, invention and professionalism. They will hand out an assignment on topics assigned in advance (see aims of the course, item a). Active work of the participants is expected during the consultations to meet the requirements of the course.
